Also, give your birds Lasota once each month. Lasota is a live vaccine inoculation you mix with spring water (do not use tap water as the chlorine in the tap water will kill the vaccine) that protects your birds from all mutated strains of PMV for up to 6 weeks so, if you give it to your birds each month, the birds are protected year round. NOTE: You must mix Lasota with spring water DO NOT USE TAP WATER! You can use up to 6 gallons of water but you should use the least amount of water you can for the numer of birds you have. You can get Lasota at Foy's Pet Supplies at 1-877-355-7727.

Ten drops of iodine per gallon of water once each month. At least 2 or 3 days before a race give them friendly gut bacteria. Do not use tap water. The day after a race give them 1/4 teaspoon of Muriatic Acid per gallon of water. You can get Muriatic Acid at any hardware store. It's the same acid that is in your and your bird's gut. Formadrops made by Versele-Laga can be purchased from Siegels (1-800-437-4436). Be sure that one drop of a dark eye drop passes through each eyeball of the bird before you ship it, if not, don't ship the bird. Continue the eyedrop in the morning and again at night until it does go through.
